ABOUT ZEMLIACHKY
Zemliachky is Ukraine’s largest NGO dedicated to systematically supporting women in the Defense Forces of Ukraine since March 2022 by providing essential equipment designed with the female anatomy in mind. The organization also supports the mental health of women service members and veterans and promotes gender equality through cultural and advocacy initiatives.

Providing Women in the Defense Forces of Ukraine with Equipment Adapted to the Female Anatomy
Since March 2022, we have been systematically providing women service members with essential equipment designed with the female anatomy in mind, while also responding to individual requests for night vision devices, drones, vehicles, paramedic backpacks, and other essential items.
- We have developed our own women’s military uniform patterns and produce the uniforms ourselves.
- We fulfill around 150 individual requests every week.
- We provide women service members with seasonal military uniforms, footwear, lightweight body armor, sleeping bags, and other essential equipment.
- We work directly with women service members through individual requests.
Building a Culture of Women in the Military and Promoting Gender Equality Through Cultural and Educational Projects
Since 2022, Zemliachky has been actively working to shape the culture and representation of women service members in Ukraine and internationally, while promoting gender equality through cultural and educational projects.
- We amplify the real stories of women service members and veterans through articles, videos, exhibitions, and special projects.
- We talk not only about gender equality, but also about strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
- We launch awareness campaigns that help shape a new social culture.
Advocating for Systemic Change at the Government Level by Integrating the Organization’s Expertise and Solutions into Public Policy to Improve Support for Women in the Military
Zemliachky’s advocacy work focuses on changing government approaches to providing women service members with essential equipment. We work to ensure that military uniforms and equipment centrally procured and issued by the state meet women’s anatomical needs, service conditions, and safety requirements.
Our work is based on building systematic cooperation with government institutions, experts, and military units. We analyze the real experiences of women in the Defense Forces of Ukraine and advocate for concrete changes to national standards, technical requirements, and procurement and supply processes for women service members.
Psychological Support and Rehabilitation for Women Service Members and Veterans Through Recovery Programs and Professional Care
Since 2022, Zemliachky has been implementing psychological support and rehabilitation programs for women service members and veterans. We create a safe space where women can restore their inner resources, receive professional support, and connect with others who share similar experiences.
- We run rehabilitation programs in the Carpathian Mountains that combine psychological recovery, physical activity, rest, and community support.
- We are developing a systemic approach to psychological support, including through the creation of WISPR, Ukraine’s first Institute of War Psychology.
We believe that psychological recovery is not a privilege, but an essential part of restoring inner resources, maintaining mental well-being, and successfully adapting after the experience of war. That is why we create programs that combine professional support, the restorative power of nature, and the strength of community.
